The Last Time They Came . . .

Sharing and Learning from Past Fights to Protect Communities and Uphold the Rule of Law in Nashville and Beyond

Join me Monday evening for a night of storytelling and skill sharing to learn how a small community of caring humans in Middle Tennessee helped end an illegal 287(g) program, halt unconstitutional ICE raids, challenge racial profiling, and interrupt the criminalization and mass incarceration of our neighbors in the immigrant and refugee communities to create safer, more vibrant spaces.

Through our successes and our failures, we endeavored to stand on the frontlines with directly impacted families to envision and create new roads toward the community we wanted to live in—even as power and politics stood against us.

Who: This event is primarily aimed toward people seeking new perspectives on our current moment, and how recent history might inform our call to stand tall and true in it.

  1. The Juana Villegas case. How we ended 287(g) in Nashville

  2. S.Comm. How we fought the [in]Secure Communities regime of warrantless ICE detainer requests that replaced it

  3. The FugOps. How we used law and organizing to protect communities impacted by illegal ICE home raids

  4. And more
