In today’s video, I unpack the Detainee Death Report ICE released yesterday. The reporting page misstates the decedent’s date of death, gets his name wrong, and raises serious questions about how he came to suffer from “severe burns” ICE didn’t say anything about in its December 8, 2025 press release. I compare the new information we get about this death (two paragraphs with no timeline) to the reports ICE published for the past 7 years in accordance with its already specious reading of the Congressional appropriations mandate.
Then I discuss why it’s so important that the FBI makes a persistent appearance in newly obtained Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office records for five men’s deaths during or following their detention at Krome.
Finally, I talk about how GEO Group appears in the Epstein files, and what that release can teach us all about transparency, democracy, and the urgent need for information.
